Northwestern Ontario Fly-In Fishing

Adventure Awaits at Walsten’s Outposts

Welcome to Walsten Outposts, where the floatplane drops you in the middle of Ontario’s wild country and the fishing never quits. Here, every cast counts — walleye, northern pike, smallmouth bass, and lake trout are waiting to test your gear and your grit. It’s not just fishing. It’s a full-on northern adventure.

Walleye

If you’re chasing walleye, you’ve come to the right place.

Our lakes are loaded — it’s normal at some of our lakes to catch a hundred fish in a day, and the big ones push past 28 inches. These waters are classic walleye country — rocky points, sandy flats, and perfect structure.

When folks talk about “Ontario trophy waters,” this is what they mean. Come ready for bent rods, sore arms, and the kind of fishing you’ll be bragging about all year.

Northern Pike

Looking for a fight? The northern pike here will give you one.

They smash lures, rip drag, and sometimes hit when you least expect it — even while you’re reeling in a walleye. Average fish run 5 to 15 pounds, but there are monsters pushing 25 to 30 pounds and stretching 40 to 50 inches.

These toothy beasts don’t play nice. They hit like a freight train and fight like they mean it. If you’re after raw power and wild action, this is your spot.

Smallmouth Bass

Few fish hit harder or fight longer than a smallmouth.

Our bass lakes — Roger, Trout, Snowshoe, and Separation — are made for them: rocky shorelines, clear water, and endless structure. You’ll find both numbers and size here, with plenty of jumpers that will go airborne on nearly every hookset.

These fish never quit, and neither will you. Come see why northwestern Ontario smallmouths have a reputation for breaking hearts and bending rods.

Lake Trout

Hooking into a lake trout is pure adrenaline.

In spring and fall, they move shallow — sometimes so close you’ll see their backs break the surface. No special tackle needed, just a solid cast and steady nerves.

When a 20-pound laker hits in two feet of water, you’ll know it. The strike is explosive, the run is wild, and the moment stays with you forever.

You’ll find top-notch lake trout action on Trout Lake and Trapline’s Portage (Wilson Lake). Big water, big fish, and pure northern magic.
